Frequently Asked Questions

Should my charger make any noise?

The noticeable sound of rushing air from the fan is a normal part of the cooling process on your Revenge rapid charger.

Will the charger overheat?

The Revenge battery chargers can reach 140° F. They may get warm in an enclosed area. The maximum recommended room temperature for charging batteries is 122° F. When the charger is hot, the output current will drop to protect the charger and the battery.

I have a club car golf cart. Will I need to bypass the OBC?

Revenge chargers are designed to work with functioning OBC (Onboard Computer) and non-OBC 48V Club Car golf carts. When the charger is unable to communicate with the OBC it usually requires a simple fix.

From 1995 to 2014, all Club Car models have an OBC. This computer is very temperamental and that may be why you receive an error code. (Red, yellow, green every minute) When this occurs you will need to bypass your OBC. This can be easily done by following instructions in Club Car Troubleshooting Guide

If your current charger still isn't working and suspect the OBC may be faulty, you may want to purchase our Onboard battery Charger instead which will connect directly to the batteries and charge your cart regardless of a faulty OBC. You can also take your golf cart to a service technician to replace the OBC. The typical cost is $400-$700.

Step 1: Remove the rubber feet from the bottom of the charger.

Step 2: Find a suitable location on the golf cart and mount using the appropriate hardware. (Example Locations: baggage well, Battery compartment, Bottom of the Seat)

Step 3: Using your charger as a template, hold the charger against the surface you plan to mount to and mark the holes. The mounting locations on the charger are shown here.

Step 4: Set the charger aside and predrill holes on marked locations

Step 5: Align the charger with the predrilled holes. Secure with screws.

INSTALLING ON THE ONBOARD CHARGER (Onboard Specific Charger)

Step 1: Switch the golf cart to TOW mode

Step 2: Find a suitable location on the golf cart and mount it using the appropriate hardware. (Example Locations: baggage well, Battery compartment, Bottom of the Seat)

Step 3: Find the ends of the electrical series on your cart batteries. Attach the Red lead (Marked with Red heat Shrink) to the battery Positive (+). Attach the Black lead (marked with Black Heat Shrink) to the battery Negative (-). Applying Dielectric grease around the connections will help prevent corrosion.

Step 4: Switch the golf cart to RUN mode

Can I power this charger from a standard outlet?

The Revenge Charge smart golf cart charger is made to be energy efficient and easy to use anywhere in the US. Our charger uses a 3-prong plug for 110 VAC power. This is the standard outlet for USA electrical house wiring.

Even though the charger output is 15/18AMP, it only draws an 8AMP AC current.

How much power does your charger draw?

It is important to note that the amount of power a charger draws can depend on several factors, including the charging capacity, the input voltage, and efficiency.

However, the Revenge Charge smart golf cart charger is designed to be energy efficient and draw only an 8 AMP AC, even though its output is 15/18 AMP.

For more specific technical details on the power consumption of the Revenge Charge smart golf cart charger, please refer to the Owners Manual or contact customercare@revengegolfcartparts.com

Will I damage the charger if it stays plugged in too long?

No. Revenge Chargers float the battery voltage in the “maintenance” stage (3rd stage). This will allow you to keep your battery charger plugged in for long periods of time without “boiling the battery dry.”

NOTE: It is important to check the electrolyte level approximately every 30 days. Batteries should be filled after charging, and the electrolyte level should be even in all cells and below the fill well in each cell. If the battery plates are exposed before charging, add just enough water to cover the plates. If the battery is overfilled before charging, it may overflow during charging.

Why do the LED’s on my Smart Charger stay illuminated for a period of time after unplugged from AC power?

This is normal and does not affect your batteries. It is simply a function of the precision charging ensuring the charger is disconnected prior to terminating the charge cycle.

Will the FORM charger work with AGM Batteries?

Revenge Smart Charge cannot charge AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries. This is because AGM batteries have different charging requirements. Our chargers are not designed for AGM batteries and could shorten the life of your AGM battery. If you charge an AGM battery with the wrong type of charger, you will end up under or overcharging your battery. Undercharging can cause sulfation on the battery's plates, reducing its ability to accept a full charge. Overcharging can cook the components inside the battery, which can shorten its lifespan or kill it entirely.

I would like to use the charger for something other than a golf cart application.

Customers have reported success using our Revenge Smart Chargers to charge their lead acid batteries for non-golf cart applications, but Revenge Chargers are not designed for this purpose.

Our chargers are designed and tested for golf cart batteries. Our customer service team does not support Chargers used outside of a golf cart application and does not qualify for a warranty.

Can I leave my charger plugged in over the winter?

Our Revenge lead acid chargers are designed with a 7-Stage Smart Charge Technology. We realize some customers do not utilize their golf carts over the winter months. The Revenge chargers will periodically check to ensure the batteries are topped off. This will allow you to keep your battery charger plugged in over the winter season as long as you check your water levels every 30 days.

Is there any warranty on the charger? Do I need to register to get it?

Yes! 18 month Limited Warranty.

The Revenge branded product (“Product”) warranty is non-transferable and warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of eighteen (18) months from the date of original retail purchase (“Warranty Period”) when used in accordance with Revenge user manuals.

The warranty covers a one-time replacement of the originally purchased product with proof of purchase. This warranty does not apply to replacement items.

The warranty excludes normal depletion of consumable parts unless a failure occurs due to a material or workmanship defect. The warranty excludes damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications, unauthorized repairs, or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.

Revenge may restrict warranty service for hardware products to the country where Revenge or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the product.

Any limitations of liability in this warranty document shall not apply to (i) death or personal injury pursuant to any mandatory law on product liability; (ii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (iii) intentional misconduct or gross negligence; (iv) or a culpable breach of major contractual obligations. A damages claim based on a breach of major contractual obligations, or gross negligence will be limited to foreseeable damage typical for the sale contract concerned.

All chargers are automatically registered for the 18 month warranty at time of purchased based on the order ID and date.

I put brand new batteries in, and now my charger won’t charge my cart.

Our smart chargers are designed with safety features to protect the health of your batteries. This is to prevent damaging batteries that may be in a state of less-than-ideal conditions.

The charger relies on sensing the golf cart batteries before engaging a charge sequence. This is a common problem, especially for new batteries. This can usually be solved with an inexpensive automotive trickle charger many people already have.

You will be using a 6 or 12-volt automotive trickle charger to recondition each battery.

Each battery should be charged for approximately 20 minutes so the pack can be detected by the Revenge golf cart charger.
The battery pack will need to be reconditioned to the minimum safety voltage of 18V for 36V Carts, or 24V for 48V Carts.

If the cart still does not charge, check the battery connections. Make sure the battery cables are correctly wired and securely connected to the battery terminals. Check for any rust or corrosion on the connections as these can cause the charger to malfunction

Are they serviceable? If so, how?

There are no serviceable components inside the charger. If you have an issue with your charger, please contact customer support at customercare@revengegolfcartparts.com

How do I return my charger?

For returns, please contact customer support by  email at customercare@revengegolfcartparts.com
